Sports Medicine
The physicians of our Sports Medicine program have a strong commitment to providing information on health and fitness and high quality comprehensive care to athletes of all ages and levels of ability. Specialists in internal medicine, orthopaedics, physical therapy, and psychiatry provide a multidisciplinary approach to the treatment and prevention of sports injuries.
Our outpatient clinic offers personalized care to recreational, scholastic, and professional athletes. Full time Sports Medicine faculty members at Northwestern Memorial's Faculty Foundation are the designated team physicians for several professional teams including the Chicago Bears, the Chicago Cubs, and the Chicago Blackhawks.
The potential for injury exists in all sports, but proper education and appropriate treatment can prevent or help to reduce the severity of many injuries. As part of their commitment to education and comprehensive care, physicians from Northwestern Memorial Hospital's Faculty Foundation in conjunction with the Feinberg School of Medicine participate in a community outreach program with Chicago public schools. As part of this outreach program, our physicians perform physical examinations, provide medical coverage for selected school games, develop educational material for student health classes and athletic teams and hold sports medicine classes for coaches and teachers.
