Residency Positions for 2010-2011

The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery's Residency Acceptance & Review Committee will conduct interviews for residency positions for 2010-2011 on six evenings in fall-winter, 2009-2010. Selected candidates will be contacted via email or telephone. Interviews will be conducted in Novermber 2009-January 2010. Below are the interview dates for our 2010-2011 residents:

  • Monday, November 23
  • Monday, November 30
  • Monday, December 7
  • Monday, December 14
  • Monday, January 4, 2010
  • Monday, January 11

The applicants  will need to arrive at our office, 676 N. St. Clair, Suite 1350, at 3:15pm.  Applicants will meet with the Chief residents for a brief presentation and then tour the hospital facility.

Applicants will then have dinner with the Chairman of the Department, Dr. Michael F. Schafer, as well as the Chairman of the Selection Committee, Dr. Clare Giegerich, and Chiefs.

Application Requirements

All application materials are processed through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS).

The application deadline is November 1, 2009. No late applications will be considered.

Applications MUST Include:

  • ERAS Application Form
  • Curriculum Vitae 
  • Personal Statement 
  • Three Letters of Recommendation (One from the Chairman of Orthopaedic Surgery)
  • Transcripts
  • USMLE scores
  • Photograph (For Identification Purposes During the Interview)


    It is the applicant's responsibility to ensure that the required records and correspondence have been submitted to ERAS prior to the deadline.

Senior Clerkship Application Requirements

We no longer require a separate application for our senior clerkship.
